Thank you for taking part in the 9th Annual Transgender Day of Remembrance on Tuesday, November 20, 2007!

Congratulations on organizing a most successful TDOR! Partnering for the fourth year, GLSEN and Gender Education and Advocacy (GEA) are proud to support your student organizing efforts. And what efforts! Over 375 middle and high school students from over 286 schools across the country organized TDOR events to both commemorate trans people who have lost their lives due to gender-based violence and to celebrate trans lives and experiences. You should most certainly be proud of yourselves.

DAY of SILENCE : April 25, 2008

DAY OF SILENCE, April 25, 2008: This year’s Day of Silence will be held in memory of Lawrence King, who friends say was murdered in a California school February 12 because of his sexual orientation and gender expression. The event brings attention to anti-LGBT bullying, harassment and discrimination in schools. Students observe the day in silence to echo the silence LGBT and ally students face every day.
