The 2012 National Day of Silence is approaching quickly! On April 20th, students everywhere will take a vow of silence to to call attention to the silencing effect of anti-LGBT bullying and harassment in schools. This year will be the biggest Day of Silence yet and we want you to be a part of making it go viral!
 
We want to know,
What Does the Day of Silence Mean to You?
 
For two whole weeks we will be selecting one lucky Tweeter daily to receive a free Day of Silence shirt! Just tweet answering the prompt "What Does the Day of Silence Mean to You?" using #DayofSilence. 2 Weeks of Tees on Twitter begins on Saturday, March 31st and runs through April 13th—enough time to get your shirt in time for Day of Silence!

Put on your filmmaker hat and create a video responding to the prompt “What Does the Day of Silence Mean to You?” This could be simply sharing your story on camera, a scripted short film, or something else you imagine all together! Three video submissions will be featured on the GLSEN website. The creators of the featured videos will also get free Day of Silence gear! You’ll need to upload your video to YouTube or Vimeo and then submit the link. Submissions are due by 11:59PM on Friday, April 8th.

Winners will be featured on blog.glsen.org beginning April 14th!
 
Share your story with us! Submit your story to us responding to the prompt "What Does the Day of Silence Mean to You?" Your story can be in any written form: narrative, poetry, essay. Three written submissions will be featured on the GLSEN website. The authors of the featured stories will also get free Day of Silence gear! Submissions are due by 11:59PM on Friday, April 8th.
